Hernando County Intergroup is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in the State of Florida, that exists to help Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) groups carry the message to the alcoholic who still suffers.
HCI maintains an AA Hotline (352) 683-4597, which is manned 24 hours a day and available to help anyone who may have a problem with alcohol. HCI relies on local A.A. group members to perform Twelfth-Step call to those who call for help. Service on the Hotline involves answering the phone, contacting A.A. members to be the Twelfth-Step contact for newcomers, helping newcomers get rides to meetings, and other Twelfth-Step work.
The office also sell AA conference approved literature, chips and medallions and other non conference books and materials. We co-publish a monthly newsletter called the Communique` with District 13, which provides local information about A.A. activities, anniversaries, and individual stories helping to keep groups informed about one another and AA world wide. HCI publishes and maintains this website which includes updated local meeting lists (locally known as Where & Whens). We are also the the connection for social activities in Hernando County. There are workshops, a monthly Unity Meeting, a yearly gratitude dinner, founders day celebration, and picnics put on by Intergroup, District 13 and local groups.
